comin' to get you

sometimes i wish my iPhone had a glare-reduction feature on it...

the smurf army is coming to take your life.
also, anyone who's interested in knitting, i'm in the process of launching a new web site - ManSpun Yarn. it's for men who think that current selections of yarn are too girly, or for women who have come to their senses.
the shop isn't set up yet, but every yarn you see is available for purchase and is handspun by none other than myself using only the manliest of techniques. you can follow the blog in preparation of the launch of the store.

in which i start knitting and rent a car... or van... or something?

i got my yarn order in for my sweater yesterday.  i know, it took a while - but it's literally going to be the softest and most comfortable sweater in the history of human kind - made entirely from Misti Alpaca yarn that i got from Knit-o-matic.

on top of being the softest and most comfortable sweater on the face of the earth, it may rank as one of the heaviest since it's going to have like 10-12 balls of yarn in it.  i *think* that means it will end up being around 2 1/2 lbs by the time i'm done with it.

totally off topic, if you have a love for death metal like i do, and a love for Arnold Schwarzenegger movies like i do you'll have to check out Austrian Death Machine.  Death Metal + Arnie = Total Brutal.  'nuff said.

and while the Yaris is in the shop getting it's bum(per) fixed, i've got a PT Cruiser as a rental.  my review of the mediocrity of america will follow in the next couple of days.

knitting is the manliest sport of all, right after cycling

yes, it's true. i knit.

though not very well, and not very quickly. probably through a lack of practice and commitment. i have an awesome handspun yarn that i got for christmas (courtesy of Studioloo) that is nice enough on its own that i don't have to do any fancy stitches or anything like that to make my scarf look nice. but being that my wardrobe is seriously aging and my collection of Mr. Rogers style cardigan sweaters is reducing itself each year through wear, i've decided that i'm going to undertake a task that no man has ever done before:

i'm going to knit a sweater.

well, i'm pretty sure that through the years maybe one or two men has knitted a sweater before but mine will be better and will likely take much longer to make. and it's not through inexperience that it will take so long, but simply because i'm so frickin awesome.

i was persuaded to get a copy of Son of Stitch 'N Bitch this weekend and found a few patterns in there that i'm going to try to figure out. figuring out knitting patterns is more difficulty because of my manliness, but dammit, i'm going to get it right. also, i need a new sweater because mine are running out of time. thankfully, the book has a glossary of all the weird abbreviations and terms that are used in these patterns that make them more bizarre looking than japanese stereo instructions.

hopefully in the next few days i'll be able to post the first progress pictures.
