bamboo wednesday! part 16! and boy, is it hot in here!

isn't it kind of late for bamboo photos?

still alive and going strong. as strong as bamboo can go anyways.
i'm getting tired of being busy at work all the time. it's really cutting into the slacking i'd much rather be doing.
oh, and if you haven't already played it, go buy yourself a copy of God of War. it is quite possibly one of the goodest video games i have ever played. it has all the prerequisites...
  • blood - check
  • ridiculous amounts of violence - check
  • ability to kill innocent people - check
  • ability to impale one of your enemies, then use that enemy as a weapon - check

yeah, when you've had a stressful day at work, just put your feet up and plug this one in. more gooder, all the time.

a post that's not about bamboo

being busy at job number one sucks. not only do i have to do actual WORK, but i have to drive more than an hour to get somewhere that makes me work.

see in the photo above, there are two screen and only two cups of coffee, putting my coffee to monitor ratio at 1:1. anyone who works in an office knows that this ratio is entirely unacceptable. how anyone, particularly myself, can survive in these types of slavery conditions is beyond my comprehension.

oh, did i mention that i got a psp for christmas? well, i did. and i've been playing Silent Hill Origins for the last several days. man, if you want a creepy game, there you go. it stays quite faithful to the creepiness of the series, but also brings back a lot of familiar things if you've seen and enjoyed the movie (which i did). if you were thinking of getting a psp, get one. they are ultra awesome. and if you've already got one, get Silent Hill Origins for it and play it with your headphones on and the lights off. awesome x2.

bamboo wednesday! part 9!

still growing, although it's starting to be at a rate that i'm not noticing the growth as much as i did. or maybe it's just because proportionally speaking, the growth doesn't appear to be as much but it's still growing at the same rate?

still just putting bottled water in it.

i've officially determined that i need a holiday, but must cope with the fact that i am out of vacation days at work since my arse-wipe boss only allows 2 weeks of vacation every year. it's one thing i miss about my old job. i had like 5 or 6 weeks of vacation with my last employer, and the option to work from home up to twice a week. if i even hint that i need to work at home for some reason at this place my boss gets constipated. in a world where gas prices are over $1.05 CDN per liter (roughly $4 a gallon for anyone american who may be reading) i find that his anti-work from home policy is really environmentally irresponsible.

this week, after deciding that i was both tired of working and tired of cleaning out the condo, i bought myself a video game. i know i shouldn't have because christmas is right around the corner, but i figured i picked one that nobody would be likely to think of getting for me. i grabbed a copy of Sonic Rush for the DS for the low low price of $15. i'd probably have to agree with the reviewers when they say "possibly the finest Sonic game yet." the game has that classic Sonic the Hedgehog feel to it, but stellar graphics and plenty of semi-hidden areas of the massive levels that you can't access when you're burning through them at top speed (which i will define as frantically fast for alliteration purposes). if you have a DS, you should grab a copy of it. on top of the regular Sonic fun, it also has multi-card and single card download multiplayer. i haven't tried out the multiplayer yet, but it's gotta be good.

when i wrote the following pages, or rather the bulk of them...

the last week or so has proven, without doubt, that i have made the right choice in deciding to move from my current residence to somewhere that does not have a douchebag as a landlord.

on thursday of last week, my landlord finally returned my phone call about getting the pipes under the kitchen sink fixed. my count is 18 calendar days to get that one addressed. is it fixed yet? no, of course not. rather than take some sort of proactive step and make some sort of effort, my douchebag landlord just gave me the name and number of the plumber the management company hires and told me i could call him to make my own arrangements.

not even 24 hours later, and on my 30th birthday no less, i discovered that my dryer ceased to function. the load of clothes left in the dryer had been sitting in there for hours, staying wet. as i didn't really feel like taking care of any of this on my birthday long weekend, i called cuntzilla first thing tuesday morning. there wouldn't have been any point in calling her on the weekend anyways. the last time she even answered the phone was more than a year ago.

so rather than do laundry this weekend, i spent a large amount of time playing Guitar Hero 2. all i have to say is if you have a console that has a version of that game, buy it. i don't think i've had more fun playing a video game ever. it's a brilliant concept - it's packed full of fun music and is designed to be incredibly interactive. certainly a must-buy for anyone who may enjoy playing video games.

oh yeah, i turned 30 last week. now i'm old fashioned.

possibly the best site ever

i have come across the best ever - though i can't take full credit for having found it.

http://nintendo8.com/

clicking the above link will allow you to play pretty much any nintendo game ever done. and i don't mean those crazy new games, i mean the old-school NES. they're all there - Super Mario, Double Dragon, even Adventure Island and Skate or Die 2.

click. play. enjoy.

i'm sure we all thought we could do this when we were five, but thanks to YouTube! someone proved they could do it in adulthood.

did anyone see tron?

i remember when i was a kid thinking "those motorcycle things that make the walls are SO awesome, i can't wait until i get zapped into a video game so i can drive them."

i think i was pretty convinced that by the time i reached thirty they'd have these out on the road. maybe they'd be police cycles or something. it'd be pretty handy to have in a high speed chase...

"just send the blue bike up front to cut him off - but make sure he turns left because we're all gonna turn right!"

the best we seem to be able to do though is all-wheel drive. and not even on motorcycles. i guess nintendo's made the first real step into getting people to be able to be zapped into the computer grid with the Wii.

i bet the Wii's had a pretty hard impact on the bowling industry you know. there weren't too many people out there who would have been willing to play a bowling video game before this system came out, but now it seems everyone i know who has one of these consoles is nuts about the bowling game. maybe that's what gamers really wanted - a good bowling game. it wasn't first-person shooters and driving simulations - bowling would have done the trick all along and nobody knew.
